c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla extract
4 T. cocoa
1 pound (3 c.) pwd sugar
6 T. buttermilk
c. chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Bring butter, cocoa and buttermilk to a boil. Remove from heat and mix in vanilla, sugar and nuts. Let frosting cool slightly before applying. It will be a little runny, but hardens as it cools.

Use this frosting for the Denver Cake. It will be a little runny, but sets up nice.
