1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp soda
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg
1 tbsp water
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups rolled oats

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, salt, baking powder and soda together into mixing bowl. Add remaining ingredients except oats. Beat until smooth, about 2 minutes. Fold in oats. Shape into small balls. Place 2" apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake in moderate oven (375) 12 - 15 minutes. Makes 2 1/2 to 3 dozen.
