4 eggs
4 c. whole milk
1/2 c. sugar
1/8 t. salt
1 1/2 t. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Bring eggs to room temperature. Heat milk in a heavy saucepan until scalding. Beat eggs in bowl. Add sugar and whisk. Slowly add hot milk ( drop by drop) to egg mixture, stirring constantly with a wire whisk. When completely blended, return to saucepan.
Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly until mixture is thick and coats a spoon. Add salt and vanilla. Chill or serve hot. Custard thickens as it cools.
