2 sticks butter
2 c sugar
2 1/4 c flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
4 tbsp milk
5 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together butter and sugar until light; use large mixing bowl. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt twice. Add to butter and sugar; mix well.
Slowly pour in milk, beating regularly. Then add eggs one at a time; mix thoroughly after each one. Add vanilla.
Pour mixture into buttered square cake pan and bake at 300F for 1 hour and 15 minutes, until toothpick stuck in middle comes out clean. Cool before taking out of pan.
Hint: ingredients should be at room temperature before using
