2 1/2 lb. beef chuck roast 1 can 15 oz. tomato sauce 1 cup chopped onion 1/4 cup green pepper 2 tbsp. packed brown sugar 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 2 tsp. dry mustard 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper few drops of hot pepper sauce (Tabasco) 1/2 cup water 2 tbsp. flour/corn starch to thicken 16 hamburger buns
Combine all ingredients (except meat and flour) in dutch oven. Trim fat, put meat in dutch oven and spoon sauce over it. Bake in 325 degree oven 4 1/4 hours. Lift meat out-cool slightly-pull meat apart into strings using 2 forks.
Blend flour and 1/4 cup water. Stir into tomato sauce mixture. On range top, cook over medium heat until sauce thickens, stirring occasionally. Put meat back in sauce-heat about 10 minutes. If using a slow cooker, omit water. Finely chop onion and green pepper. Cook on low 10-12 hours.
