4 cups sugar
1 cup milk
1/2 cup corn syrup
2 squares chocolate or cocoa (about 3 tbsp)
Butter, size of an egg
1 cup nut meats
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Boil sugar, milk, syrup and chocolate to soft ball stage (234) boiling as slowly as possible. Do not stir any more than needed. Remove from heat and add butter. Let cool until the kettle is cool enough on the bottom that it doesn't burn hands. Add nut meats and vanilla and beat. Slow cooking and long beating--the secret of success!
