2 cups flour
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
6 tbsp. cold butter cut into small pieces
1 large egg
3/4 cup milk
4 oz. shredded extra sharp cheddar cheese

Preheat oven to 425. Grease large cookie sheet.
1. In a large bowl measure flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt
2. With fingertips, blend butter into the mixture until fine crumb.
3. In a small bowl beat the egg lightly.
4. Stir egg mixture and cheddar into the flour mixture just until blended. Turn onto lightly floured surface and divided the mixture into 1/2.
5. Flour hands and pat each 1/2 into a 5 " round, 1" high. Place on cookie sheet 3" apart. With a floured knife cut round into 6 wedges but don't separate.
6. Bake 20 minutes. Remove to wire rack to cool.
