1 cup Quick Oats
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
3 eggs
1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp soda
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Frosting:
6 tbsp butter (melted)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup half & half or pet milk
1 cup coconut

Directions:
Directions:
Pour 1 1/2 cups boiling water over 1 cup Quick Oats and let stand 20 min.
Cream together vegetable shortening, brown sugar, white sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Add oat mixture, flour, salt, soda, nutmeg, cinnamon, nuts. Mix well. Bake 350F for 35 minutes.

Frosting:
Mix all ingredients and spread on cake. Brown under broiler while cake is still warm (for only a few seconds)
