1 to 1 1/2 heads lettuce, cut up
1 box frozen peas (leave frozen)
1/2 red onion, finely chopped
1 to 1 1/2 lbs bacon
1 lg pkg shredded cheddar cheese
1 jar of Hellmann's mayonnaise
1/2 C sugar
salt and pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Cook bacon crispy and crumble into small pieces. Set aside. In very large bowl first put the lettuce. In layers, add the peas, onion (optional), bacon and cheese. Mix the mayo with the sugar and spread over entire top of salad. Add salt and pepper to taste (very little salt). Cover with foil. Refrigerate overnight. Toss to mix well just before serving.

This is from my mother-in-law. She puts toothpicks in the salad so the foil does not stick when covering. She says make sure it's tight around the side of bowl!
