2 1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. plus 2 Tbsp. flour
5c. whole milk
4 eggs beaten to blend
4 c. whipping cream
2 Tbsp. vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar, flour and salt in a large saucepan. Gradually stir in milk. Cook over medium heat until until thickened, stirring constantly about 15 minutes.
Gradually stir about 1 c. hot milk mixture in saucepan. Cook stirring constantly 1 minute. Remove from heat. Refrigerate 2 hours.
Combine cream and vanilla. Add to egg milk mixture, stirring with a wire whisk to combine. Transfer to ice-cream maker. Freeze according to manufacturer's directions.
