1 tsp. olive oil
1 c. chopped onion
4 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 c. dry red wine
1 tbsp.. sugar
1 tbsp. chopped fresh basil or 2 tbls. dried basil
2 tbsp. tomato paste (use paste from the tube)
1/2 tsp. dried Italian seasonings
1/4 tsp. black pepper
2 (14.5 oz.) cans of crushed or diced tomatoes,undrained.
2 tbsp. chop-ped fresh parsley

Directions:
Heat oil in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onion and garlic and cook for 5 minutes, Stir in wine and next 6 ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and cook for 15 minutes, uncovered. Stir in parsley.

Makes about 3 cups.
