1 Cup butter, softened
1 Cup white sugar
1 Cup Brown sugar
3 eggs, slightly beaten
4 Cups flour, sifted
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
dash salt
1 tsp. vanilla

2 Cups chopped dates
3/4 Cup sugar
3/4 Cup water
Crushed nuts (walnuts or pecans)

Boil all of this together just to blend.

Mix all cookie dough ingredients together. Add 1/2 cup more flour if needed if needed to roll. Divide dough in half and roll out to 1/4 inch thick and spread 1/2 of the date filling on top. Roll into a roll. Wrap roll in wax paper and refrigerate overnight. Remove from refrigerator and slice. Bake approx. 10 minutes or until golden brown at 350 degrees
