1 to 1 /12 lbs. hamburger or sweet Italian sausage
1 T. Olive oil
1 onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced or 2 tsp. bottled minced garlic
1 large can diced tomatoes
1 6 oz. can tomato paste
1 8 oz. can tomato sauce
1 T. oregano leaves
1 bayleaf
1-2 tsp. salt
Pepper, basil to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Heat olive oil in 6-8 quart pot. Add onion and garlic and cook until onion is translucent. Add hamburger and cook until no longer pink. Drain grease from pan. Add all other ingredients, rinsing out the tomato cans with water and adding to pot, about 3/4 cup water. Stir well and simmer 45 minutes or more. Remove bay leaf before serving.
