1-1/4 c. flour
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. ground almonds
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. butter
1 8-oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/4 c. sugar
1 large egg
1/2 tsp. almond extract
21 oz. can cherry pie filling

Directions:

Heat oven to 350 Grease a 9x9" pan. In large bowl combine flour, brown sugar, almonds and nutmeg; cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Set 1/2 cup of crumbs aside and pat remaining mixture in prepared pan. Bake 15 minutes. Meanwhile, in small bowl with electric mixer at medium speed, beat cream cheese, egg, sugar and almond extract until thoroughly blended and smooth. Spoon cheese mixture over crust and bake 10 minutes. Remove from oven and spoon cherry pie filling over cheese. Sprinkle on crumb mixture. Bake 20 minutes longer. Cool. Cut into bars.
