3/4 c. Crisco or oil
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. dark malasses
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour once, measure. Combine spices and add to flour. Add baking soda and salt. Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and molasses. Add dry ingredients. Preheat over to 350 degrees. Roll dough into small balls about the size of a walnut. Then roll into sugar. Spread cookies one inch apart on cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes.
