8 (12 inch) bamboo skewers
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1 tbsp oil
2 tbsp brown sugar
1/4 cup chili sauce
1 tbsp lime juice
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp allspice
1/2 tsp ginger
1/4 to 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
4 boneless skinless chicken breats halves

Heat grill. Soak bamboo skewers in water for at least 30 minutes. In small saucepan, cook onion in oil until tender. Stir in brown sugar, chili sauce, lime, juice, salt, allspice, ginger and cayenne pepper. Bring to a boil over medium heat for one minute. Remove from heat; set aside.
Cut each chicken breast half into lengthwise strips 1/2 inch wide, Add to spice mixture; toss to coat. Weave chicken strips onto skewers. When ready to barbecue, oil grill rack. Grill 4 to 6 inches from medium coals. Cook 7 to 10 minutes or until chicken is no longer pink, turning once and brushing frequently with spice mixture. 8 kabobs.
