2 c. water
2 c. sugar
2 c. raisens
1 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
3 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 t. cloves
2 tsp. soda

3 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup nuts
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Bring to to boil first nine ingredients. Set aside to cool.
Add flour mixture.
Pour into 9x13 greased pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 min.
Do not frost.

This cake is recipe is over 100 years old. It tastes best if allowed to set over night.
