2 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
2 carrots, grated
1 rib celery, finely chopped
1 turnip, peeled and diced
3 tablespoons minced onion
1 tablespoon dried vegetable flakes
Salt and pepper to taste
3 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
1 cups milk
1 cups sour cream
3 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled

Combine the first six ingredients, add salt and pepper, cover with water and simmer for 30 minutes. In another saucepan, melt butter and stir in flour. Add a small amount of liquid from the simmering potatoes to form a paste. Cool and stir in milk and sour cream. When the vegetables are cooked, mash or puree them and add the flour and milk mixture. Heat, but do not boil. Serve sprinkled with bacon. This dish can also be served cold.
