1c sugar
1 c shortening
1 c dark molasses
2 eggs
4 c sifted flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp ginger
2 tsp cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar & shortening. Add eggs & dry ingredients. Add molasses. Form into walnut sized balls. Roll in granulated sugar. Bake @ 350 for 10-15min.

This is a colonial American recipe from the end of the 1800's or beginning of the 1900's. It is a New England favorite.
