1 1/4 c. boiling water
2 eggs
1 c. quick oatmeal
1 t. vanilla
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 t. soda
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 t. salt


Frosting:

1/2 c. butter
6 T. cream
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1 t. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Pour boiling water over oatmeal and let stand for 20 minutes. Cream shortening and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat well. Stir in dry ingredients. Add oatmeal last. Pour into greated 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 for 35 minutes. Cool.
Mix frosting ingredients and boil 2 minutes. May add 1/2 c. chopped walnuts. Beat until frosting begins to thicken. Spread over bars.
