1 - 10 inch angel food cake
16 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 envelope unflavored gelatin, dissolved in 2 T. cold water
4 large eggs, beaten until foamy
1 c heavy whipping cream, whipped till it forms soft mounds
2 c of heavy whipping cream, with 3 tbsp powdered sugar and 2 tsp pure vanilla extract.
2 baskets fresh strawberries, cleaned and sliced
1/3 c roasted, sliced almonds

Gently break angel food cake into walnut sized pieces, place in a large bowl. Butter a baking dish, layer in half the amount of cake pieces on bottom of dish.
Melt the chocolate chips in a double boiler, on low heat. Turn off heat and stir in dissolved gelatin, and the beaten eggs and mix well. Cool slightly and fold whipped cream into chocolate mixture.
Pour and spread chocolate filling over the broken pieces of cake in the bottom of buttered baking dish. Add another layer of the broken pieces of cake on top of the chocolate layer, and finish top with the remainder of the chocolate mixture and smooth the top. Cover with foil and chill at least 6 hours.
Remove cake carefully from baking dish with a spatula. Slice and serve with whipped cream, sliced fresh strawberries and roasted sliced almonds.
