2 1/2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1/2 c.baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. soda
1 1/2 tsp.salt
1/2 c. nuts or raisins if desired
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. water
2 eggs

Sift dry ingredients; add everything mix well. Makes a good loaf cake. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.

9 tbsp. brown sugar
6 tbsp. cream
2 Tbsp. butter

(Mix in sauce pan boil 1 minute stir until cool, then add powdered sugar to thicken and spread
