2 1/4 c self-rising flour
1T sugar
1/2 c butter flavored shortening
1 egg, beaten
2/3 c milk
1 T melted butter

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 450. Combine flour and sugar; mix well. Cut in shortening to resemble coarse meal. Combine egg and milk; add to flour mixture, stirring just til dry ingredients are moistened.
Turn dough onto floured surface and knead 3-4 times.
Roll dough to 1/2" thickness and cut with biscuit cutter. Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake 10-12 minutes. Remove from oven and brush with melted butter (optional)
