1/2 Cup Shortening
2 oz. Unsweetened Baking Chocolate
3/4 Cup Sifted Flour
1/2 tsp Baking Powder
3/4 tsp Salt
2 Eggs
1 Cup Sugar
1 tsp Vanilla
1 Cup Nuts (Optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Melt shortening and chocolate together over hot water. Cool. Sift flour with baking powder and salt. Beat eggs until light. Add sugar, then chocolate mixture and blend. Add flour, vanilla and nuts and mix well. Bake in a 8" X 8" greased pan in 350 oven 30-35 minutes. For more chewy brownies add 2 tablespoons of corn syrup to batter.
