Ingredients:  
1 lb. dry pinto beans
1 rounded tsp. minced garlic
small pinch of sugar
1/2 medium onion, chopped
3 - 4 slices of salt pork - chopped into small pieces
salt to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Wash & soak beans over night. Rinse beans, cover with fresh water so beans have about 2" of water over them. Bring to a boil & add garlic, sugar, & onions. Reduce heat to med-low and cook about 30 mins. Add salt pork & reduce heat to simmer. Cover and simmer slowly about 20 mins. , add salt & continue to simmer adding a little water at a time if needed until beans are done and soup is thick.
