6 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
4 tsp. baking powder
1 cup shortening (or lard)
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 cup sweet milk or buttermilk
2 tsp. vanilla
tsp. nutmeg
Sugar Sprinkles (color of Choice)

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, baking soda, baking powder, and nutmeg in a large bowl. Make a hollow in center. Add sugar, eggs, shortening, milk, and vanilla. Work together by hand until easily handled. Put out onto a floured board. Roll out the dough to inch thickness, cut into desired shapes, and sprinkle with sugar (plain granulated sugar is fine). Do not over bake, just until lightly brown approximately 15 minutes at 375 degrees.
