1/4 cup shortening or oil
1/4 cup flour
3 - 4 cups whole milk
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Melt the shortening in a heavy skillet. Stir in the flour and cook, while stirring , until the flour is very lightly colored. Add the milk all at once and stir with wire whisk until the gravy is thick and simmering. Add salt and black pepper to taste.

Cream gravy is a treat - a little practice and anyone can make gravy. Grandaddy could never make gravy although he tried. He said that was why he kept Grandmother around.
