1 pkg. (4oz.) Bakers German Sweet Chocolate
1/2c. boiling water
1c. butter
2c. sugar
4 egg yolks
1tsp. vanilla
2 1/4c. flour
1tsp. baking soda
1/2tsp. salt
1c. buttermilk
4 egg whites stiffly beaten

Coconut Pecan Frosting:
1c. evaporated milk
1c. suga
3 slightly beaten egg yolks
1/2c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/3c. angel flake coconut
1c. chopped pecans

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350.
Melt chocolate in boiling water. Cool. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add yolks, 1 at a time, beating well after each. Blend in vanilla and chocolate. Sift flour with soda and salt; add alternately with buttermilk to chocolate mixture, beating after each addition until smooth. Fold in beaten whites. Pour into three 9 inch layer pans, lined on bottom with paper. Bake for 30 to 35 min. Cool. Frost tops only.

Coconut Pecan Frosting:
Combine evaporated milk, sugar, egg yolks, butter, and vanilla. Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened, about 12 min. Add 1 1/3c. angel flake coconut, 1c. chopped pecans. Cool until thick enough to spread, beating occasionally.
