1/2 cup shortening
1 c sugar
1 Tmolasses
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 c all-purpose flour
1 c quick-cooking oats
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1 c (6 oz) semisweet chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
1) In a large mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugar. Beat in the molasses, egg and vanilla. Combine flour, oats, baking soda, cinnamon and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in chocolate chips.

2) Roll into 1 1/2 -in balls. Place 2 in. apart on greased baking sheets. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Cool for 5 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks.
