1 pounds of fresh asparagus, trimmed
3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
teaspoon salt
teaspoon ground black pepper
2 tablespoons butter

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 500 degrees. Spread asparagus on a baking sheet in a single layer and brush with olive oil. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, and roast the asparagus in the upper third of the oven until the spears are tender when pricked with the tip of a knife. (Usually about 10 minutes or so.) Remove from oven. Place butter on hot baking sheet to melt. With tongs, transfer asparagus to a serving platter and pour melted butter over.
