Directions:Measure sifted flour. Add baking powder, spices, salt and sift again. Cream sugar and shortening together until light and fluffy. Add unbeaten eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly between each addition. When eggs are completely blended, add milk and 3 1/2 c. flour alternately to mixture, first adding half the flour then half the milk and the remaining flour and last the remaining milk. The mixture may need more flour. If so add whatever necessary from 1/2 c. flour remaining. Set dough in refrigerator for 1 hr. to become thoroughly chilled. Roll out half the dough at one time on a rolling board that has been generously sprinkled with flour. Roll dough 1 1/2 inch thick. Fry 5 doughnuts at one time. About 1 min. on each side. 360 - 370º |
