1 Cup Margarine
1 3/4 Cup Sugar
4 Eggs Beaten
1 # Chopped Dates
1 # Chopped Orange Slice Candy
3 1/2 Cups Flour
1 Tsp Soda
1 Cup Buttermilk
2 Cups Chopped Walnuts
2 Cups Flaked Coconut


Glaze
2 Cups sugar
1 Cup Pure Orange Juice
2 Tbls. Grated Orange Peeling

Directions:

Preheat oven to 325
Grease and lightly flour tube pan

Sift flour and soda set aside.
Cream margarine and sugar. Add beaten eggs. Alternate sifted flour and soda with buttermilk until mixed through. Stir in remaining ingredients. Batter will be stiff. Bake for 2 hours. Remove from oven. Combine Glaze ingredients and mix until sugar is dissolved. Pour over hot cake. Store cake in refrigerator.

This is a very rich, fruity cake and makes an excellent gift for Christmas holidays. It slices well and looks beautiful on a tray.
