2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 egg yokes
3 mashed bananas
3/4 cup buttermilk or plain yogurt
1 cup chopped walnuts
2 egg whites, beaten

Directions:
Directions:
Sift all dry ingredients.Cream butter and vanilla. Cream sugar gradually. Add eggs one at a time.
Add dry ingredients alternately 1/4 at a time with mixture of banana and buttermilk and stir until smooth. Stir in walnuts. Gently fold in egg whites.
Bake 350 degrees until done - about 45 minutes.

This recipe was given to me by a library employee in the 1970s. I usually frost with a powdered sugar and butter icing. Yummy.
