2 c. all purpose flour, 21/2 tsp.baking powder, 1/2 tsp. baking soda, dash salt, 1 tbsp. sugar, 1/2 c. butter or margarine or shortening, 3/4 c. buttermilk, 1 tbsp. melted butter, 1 tbsp. flour (optional)

Directions:
mix flour, baking soda, baking powder, sugar & salt in bowl. cut in butter or shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs, add buttermilk, mix quickly to make a soft dough, turn out onto lightly floured surface, knead a few times to make a soft dough, DO NOT over knead or the biscuts will turn hard & dry, rollout to a 6 by 6 inch square place onto an ungreased baking sheet, with knife cut into 12 even portions, DO NOT SEPERATE!!!! bake at 400 until golden brown, (about 15 minutes) dust with flour (if desired) when biscuits come out of oven, serve piping hot with butter or honey/jam
