2 large onions, thinly sliced
3 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons parsley
2 cloves garlic; minced
1/2 cup diced ham
7 cups water
3 teaspoons chicken bouillon
1 teaspoon pepper
4 large potatoes; shredded
1/4 cup romano cheese

Directions:
Directions:
Cook and cover onions in butter in 4 quart soup pot over medium high heat for 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Stir in parsley, garlic and ham.

Cook, uncovered over high heat 5 minutes; stir in remaining ingredients except cheese. Heat to boiling; reduce heat.

Cover and simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Top with cheese before serving.
