1 1/4 c. dates, chopped
1 c. hot water
3/4 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 c. flour
soda
salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chocolate chips
1/2 c. nuts, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Mix the chopped dates and the hot water. Set aside to cool. Cream the butter and sugar. Add the eggs and beat until fluffy.

In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, soda and salt. Add to the creamed mixture alternately with the date mixture. Mix well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla and 1/2 c. chocolate chips.

Spread the batter into a greased 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Top with 1 1/2 c. chopped nuts. Bake in a 350 oven for about 35 minutes.
