2 T. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 lb. beef chuck, cut into 1" chunks
2 T. shortening
2 10 1/2 oz. cans condensed tomato soup
1 1/2 c. chopped onion
1/2 tsp. diced basil
4 med. potatoes pared & cubed
4 med. carrots, cut in 1" cubes
1/2 c. dry red wine or water

Directions:
Directions:
Combine flour, salt and a dash of pepper. Coat the meat in seasoned flour and brown in hot shortening in a Dutch oven. Add the soup and 2 1/2 c. water, onion and basil. Cover and bake in a 375 oven for about 1 hour. Add the potatoes, carrots and wine. Cover and bake for 1 hour longer or until the meat and vegetables are tender.
