1 clove garlic
1 can tomato puree
1 small jar of salted capers
1 1/2 tsp. dried basil
1/2 tsp. dried or fresh parsley

Directions:
Directions:
Soak capers in cold water for 10 min. to reduce saltiness.
Brown garlic in a pan containing enough oil to cover the bottom.
Add tomato puree. Let cook for a few minutes, stirring often to prevent scorching. Dilute with a little bit of water (a few tablespoons should do it).
Add the remaining ingredients and simmer for 1/2 hour. Serve over fine spaghetti.

This sauce is incredibly simple and very delicious. It is a family recipe that had to be translated because it had never been written down. Grandma Consoli just told us to add a pinch of this and a pinch of that. Feel free to add more basil if you prefer.
