1 cup shortening 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup white sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 cup flour 1 teaspoon soda 1 egg 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
Cream together the shortening and sugars. Add the rest of the ingredients. Chill. Roll into balls and flatten on greased cookie sheet with a glass dipped in sugar. Bake at 350º for 10-12 minutes, or until light brown.
