1/2 lb butter 2 c sugar 2 1/4 c sifted flour 5 large eggs pinch of salt 1 to 2 t vanilla
Cream butter and sugar, then add flour and eggs alternately in a mixer starting and ending with flour. Add salt and vanilla and pour into a greased tube pan. Bake at 325º starting with a cold oven for one hour and check for doneness. Cool 10 minutes on a rack before dumping.
