1/2 cup high quality balsamic vinegar
1.5 Tbs. brown sugar
dash black pepper
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
vanilla ice cream.

Directions:
Directions:
Bring balsamic vinegar to a boil, then reduce by half (1-2 minutes). Add brown sugar, pepper, and walnuts and stir continuously until sugar is melted.
Pour over vanilla ice cream.

This doesn't sound like it should work, but it is a great, quick dessert. One key thing-don't let the remainders (if there are any) sit in the pan. The brown sugar is a real pain to get off once re-hardened.
This is also tasty mixed in with fresh strawberries.
