4 oz. German chocolate squares
1/4 cup butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
3 tbsps. cornstarch
1/8 tsp. salt
2 extra large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
8 oz. sweetened coconut flakes
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1 2/3 cup evaproated milk
1 9 inch pie crust, unbaked

Pie Crust
1 1/2 wondra flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 cup vegetable shortening
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/4 cup ice water

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Crust
Add salt to flour. Cut in crisco and butter with a pastry blender. Add water, a little at a time. Form into a ball. Dough may be chilled before rolling, if necessary. Roll out on a floured, cloth covered board to about 10 inches. Line pie plate.

Filling
Melt German chocolate and beutter. In electric mixer, whisk together sugar, cornstarch, salt, eggs, and vanilla. Mix milk into chocolate mixture. Whisk chocolate mixture into egg/sugar mixture. Pour into pie shell. Toss together pecans and coconut; sprinkle over pie. Bake 40 minutes at 375 degrees until top puffs (Note: do not use convection mode for this. It is a custard pie and needs the time to cook). Cover loosely with foil and bake for 20 minutes more. Cool at least 3 hours before cutting. Serve with freshly whipped cream.
