Cookies:
1 c. shortening
2 c. brown sugar
3 eggs
1/2 c. water
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. cinnamon
3 1/2 c. flour

Filling:
2 c. dates
3/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. water

Directions:
Directions:
Cook filling until thick. Mix shortening, sugar, and eggs. Stir in water, vanilla, then rest of ingredients.

Drop heaping tbsp. on ungreased cookie sheet. Add 1 tsp. of filling. Drop more dough on top.

Bake at 325 for 10-15 minutes
