1 1/2 cup cornmeal
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cup buttermilk
1 egg, well beaten
1 tsp. salt
1 Tbl. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 cup oil or shortening

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all dry ingredients, add milk, shortening and well beaten egg. Mix well. Pour into a well greased 9 inch hot pan. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Bake 20-25 minutes or until brown.
