Ingredients:
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 Pkg. Phyllo Pastry - (found in frozen foods section)
1 lb. Butter
5 c. pecans
1 c. almonds
1/2 c. honey
2 slices of lemon
2 sticks cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Grind nuts fine and stir in 1 tsp. cinnamon and 1/4 cup sugar. Melt 1 lb. of butter. Brush bottom of pan with butter and put one layer of phyllo pastry and then brush it with butter, alternate the overlap of pastry in pan. You need 6 layers of pastry. Next 8 layers, pastry, butter, nuts. Use up all your nuts. Next remaining layers, pastry, and butter. (Usually 10 or more layers). Cut in stripes and squares before you cook it. Bake @ 350 for 30 minutes, then 325 for 30 min. I like to lay a piece of tin foil over them during the first 30 minutes, so that it doesn't brown too much.

SYRUP:

2 c. sugar,
1 c. water,
2 slices of lemon,
2 sticks of cinnamon.
Boil for 5 to 8 minutes to make thin syrup. Add 1/2 cup honey and stir, then cool while Baklava is cooking. Put in freezer to cool. Spoon over hot pastry. Never pour hot syrup over hot cookies - have either one cool.

Personal Notes:
This is a Greek cookie. When we lived in Price we would have them all the time. I like to make this cookie at Christmas time. It wasn't until we moved to Roosevelt that I learned how to make them.
