2 c macaronie cooked and drained (not rinsed)
salt heavily
1 pk grated sharp cheddar cheese
1 pk mild cheddar cheese
1 stick real butter
salt & pepper
2 eggs beaten
1 c condensed milk
1 c water
2% milk to bring to top
salt & pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Put 1/2 of cooked macaronie in a 9 x 13 in pan. Layer with sharp and mild cheese, salt and pepper and put butter pats on top (1/2 stick). Repeat with 2nd layer as above. Mix beaten eggs, condensed milk, water, salt & pepper and pour over top. Bring liquid level to desired level with 2% milk. Bake at 375 until lightly browned.

This is Lois Rushton's recipe and she says the secret is to adequately salt and pepper the dish. She said to "over salt".
