3 tsp baking powder

3/4 c + 2 T shortening
3/4 c milk
9 - 10 peeled and sliced apples
2 c sugar
2 c water

Mix flour, baking powder salt and shortening together; gradually add milk. Roll out in 6-8" squares. Add apples and scrunch together placing into 9x13" pan (you will have 6 dumplings). Prepare syrup by putting rest of ingredients into a saucepan and bringing to a boil. Boil for 5 minutes and pour hot syrup over dumplings. Bake in a 375 oven for 35-40 minutes.
