1 1/2 cups milk

Directions:
Before baking cake, mix the first part of the frosting by cooking the flour and milk in a double boiler or heavy saucepan until very thick and paste-like. Remove from heat and let cool (must be completely cool in center).

Grease and flour two 11" x 17" cookie sheets (or line with waxed or parchment paper). Mix cake ingredients at medium speed of a mixer for 2 minutes. Divide batter between the two cookie sheets and spread evenly. Bake for 12-15 minutes at 350.

In a mixer at high speed, cream butter, shortening and vanilla. Add the powdered sugar and paste mixture alternately. The frosting will become very light and fluffy.

Spread frosting on one cake and flip the other cake on top (like a sandwich).
