Maple Nut Cake Recipe

1/3 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
2 egg yolks
3/4 c. milk
1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening and brown suger. Add egg yolks and mix well. Add milk and dry ingredients. Add nuts and vanilla. Bake in a greased loaf pan at 350 for 35 min.

Maple Icing
1/2 tsp. butter
2 tbls. hot milk
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. maple flavoring.
Mix well, spread on cooled cake. You may sprinkle with nuts if desired.
