Ingredients:
3 beaten egg yolks
1 cup THICK sour cream (originally we had fresh cream from the cow, that had we let sour)
1 1/2 c sugar
1 1 oz. unsweetened chocolate
1/4 c hot water
1 tesp vanilla
1 1/4 c cake flour ( this time try it)
1/2 tesp salt
1 tesp soda
3 stiff beaten egg whites

Directions:
Directions:
Beat egg yolks, add cream gradually.(when I made this at Shirleys, she had a wimpy mixer, now days they're a lot stronger.) Don't over mix! Add sugar and beat until thick. Melt chocolate in the water, cool. Add the chocolate to egg yolks mixture then the vanilla. Add sifted dry ingredients then fold in the stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in greased and floured pan. 350 degrees 45-50-min.

Personal Notes:
I know some of us don't make cake from scratch anymore. But this recipe is good! Shirley has asked me many times where is that sour cream cake recipe I made a 100 years ago. Well I finely found it!
